Remarks | Name also cited in Ref. 12396. The mahimahi fishery in Tahiti developed after the Second World War with the introduction of motorized boats. In recent days, the development of the tourist industry in the country has resulted in the mahimahi to become rare in fresh markets. The mahimahi is sold directly to hotels, restaurants and supermarkets as a first class food fish. It can be cooked and served using all methods of preparations and is never known to cause food poissoning. |
