Distribution: Central and South America: Río Magdalena drainage, Colombia on the Atlantic drainage to the Río Cocle del Norte, Panama. On the Pacific side, it is known from the Río Dagua, Colombia, to the Río Grande de Térraba drainage in Costa Rica.
