Distribution: Former USSR and Asia: Caspian Sea. Common in the Volga delta near Astrakhan.
Biology: Males are larger than females. Mature males become completely naked. Spawning is intermittent in this species (Ref. 2058). Females lay eggs in at least two portions into empty shells. Feeds mostly on molluscs and fish (small gobies), also worms and crustaceans. (Ref.59043)
