Distribution: Asia and Oceania: Indonesia, Taiwan, Palau, New Guinea, and Solomon Islands. Also reported from the Philippines (Ref. 7223). Reports from Australia requires verification by additional collections.
Diagnosis:   Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 37-44
Biology: Mostly found in streams or rivers, some as far as 30 km upstream from the mouth. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205)
