Distribution: Africa: Central part of Congo system (around Kisangani area and also Ubangui River at Bangui and upstream).
Diagnosis:   Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-18; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-27. Pre- and post-pelvic scutes lacking (pelvic scute present, tips of its lateral arms bifurcated). Jaws about equal, with fine teeth; no second supra-maxilla; branchiostegal rays 3 or 4. Scales large. Occurs with other pellonulines, but the smoothly rounded belly, absence of spiny post-pelvic scutes and lack of a second supra-maxilla makes it unmistakable.
Biology: A riverine species apparently found in the main stream. Feeds on small shrimps and on larvae of mosquito and chironomids
