Distribution: Africa: restricted to the coastal river systems of Tanzania (Ref. 13338). Although this species is also reported from other localities in Kenya, Uganda, the upper Niger River, Lake Chad and probably also the Nile River, these populations are considered as conspecific (Ref. 13338). IUCN listed Haplochromis aff. bloyeti as data deficient (DD).
Biology: Inhabits rivers, streams and freshwater lakes (Ref. 4967)
