Czech Republic country information
Common names: Sekavec podunajský Ref:  Hanel, L., 2003
Status: native Ref:
Salinity: freshwater
Regulations: no regulations Ref:
Uses: no uses
Comments: Occurs in Odra and Morava river basins (Ref. 54732). Considered endangered in 2000 (Ref. 41386). This species has been identified previously as Cobitis taenia in the major part of Europe. However, karyotype examinations revealed that the populations are of this species and by those denoted as hybrid diploid- polyploid (HDP) complexes. So far, the pure diploid C. elongatoides populations have been discovered in the drainage area of the River Luznice and in the upper part of the River Dyje. Status of threat: Endangered, A (1a, b) (Ref. 52149).
