Distribution:	Africa: Occurs east of the Volta basin to Cameroon. Recorded from Chad basin and Benue River; Ghana and Nigeria (Ref. 2801).
Diagnosis:	Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Long barbels, anterior reaching posterior half of eye, posterior extending past posterior barbel. Lateral line not dipping. Black longitudinal band tangent to the lateral line extending to the snout. Fins light yellow. Dorsal and anal with 3 simple rays.
