Diagnosis:   Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Body dark brown to black with longitudinal lines; fins spotted in young, black in large individuals (Ref. 5493).
Biology: Adults inhabit brackish estuaries and medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 2847, 12975, 48637, 44894); also in submerged bank vegetation of freshwater streams (Ref. 41184). Usually found on mud bottoms (Ref. 44894)
