Black Sea basin: Bulgaria (Veleka drainages), Turkey (Resowska drainages) (Ref. 59043). In Appendix III of the Bern Convention (protected fauna).
Biology: Adults feed on plankton and insects, less frequent on small benthic animals. Eastern populations migrate upstream for spawning (Ref. 13696). Larvae and young juveniles feed on zooplankton, algae and insect larvae (Ref. 59043)
