Diagnosis:   Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Well developed lips with round chin lobe. Last simple ray strongly ossified forming thick dorsal spine in adults (grows allometrically, shorter than the head of young and longer than head length in individual > 15 in SL). Longest dorsal ray is the 1st branched ray. Upper edge of dorsal fin slightly concave. Gill rakers in 1st branchial arch. Yellowish, slightly orange on sides, grayish back, fins more ore less yellowish. Caudal orange in young and individuals of middle size, grayish in adults. Black margin on caudal and dorsal fins.
