Distribution: Africa: known only from the Koumba River, affluent of the Tominé/Corubal River in Guinea (Ref. 2940) and in Guinea-Bissau (Ref. 13331).
Diagnosis:   Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Deep head, convex dorsal profile. Unequal length of barbels, anterior reaching or reaching past eye middle, posterior ones extending to opercle. Dorsal and anal with 3 simple rays. Dark back, light belly. Scales above and 2 row below lateral line with vertical crescents of melanophores. 3 aligned spots on sides: 1st on 5-6th lateral line scale; 2d just before posterior base of dorsal fin and 3rd on caudal peduncle. Spot on caudal peduncle may disappear in adults. Spots generally clearer in young. RDT = 1.
