Distribution: Africa: upper Senegal basins in the Bafing, Téné in Guinea.
Diagnosis:   Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Round dorsal profile, a bit depressed on the nuke. Unequal pairs of barbels: anterior reaching anterior eye border and posterior may reach the posterior eye border. Complete lateral line, more or less dipping below the dorsal fin. Well-marked black longitudinal band. Dark longitudinal bands on 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows of scales above lateral lines, giving rayed back. Dorsal: 4 simple, 7-8 branched. Anal: 3 simple, 5 branched.
