Distribution: Africa: Gibi Mountains and Farmington River basin in Liberia (Ref. 2940, 2957).
Diagnosis:   Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Depth is less than 1/4 of SL. Anterior barbel reaching vertical of posterior half of eye, posterior barbel may reach pre-opercle. Posterior border of scales, specially in lateral line, pigmented. Perforations of lateral line separates this pigmentation into 2 rows of parallel stripes. Oval black spot the size of the eyes on caudal peduncles. Dorsal and anal both with 3 simple rays.
Biology: Affinities: B. chlorotaenia; B. bigornei and B. inaequalis. Maximum TL was recorded at 6.5 cm (Ref. 2801)
