Distribution: Africa: known from the type locality, headwaters of the Aboina River, affluent of the Cross River, Southern Nigeria. Reported from Benoué River (Ref. 13331).
Diagnosis:   Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Slightly convex dorsal profile. Lines of cephalic pores visible on head. Barbels moderately developed; anterior slightly extending past anterior eye border and posterior reaching posterior 1/2 of eye. Papillose lower part of 1st branchial arc. Black lateral stripe from opercle edge to caudal peduncle terminating in black spot on caudal peduncle. Dorsal with black spot at mid- height of rays with tip not colored. Scale on back and lateral line pigmented borders, color more intense on lateral line. Dorsal and anal with 3 simple rays.
