Biology: Occurs in shallow inshore waters over both sandy and rocky bottoms, appearing seasonally over muddy bottoms adjacent to extensive papyrus swamps. Also found in deep water, near rocky islands. Feeds on large libellulid nymphs and other large prey (Ref. 9606). Oviparous (Ref. 205). Migrates up the river to spawn (Ref. 10608)
