Distribution: Africa: known from the type locality (Tributaries Bagbwe River, Sierra Leone). Reported from Jong and Sewa rivers in Sierra Leone (Ref. 13331).
Diagnosis:   Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Medium sized fish with straight dorsal profile. Slightly depressed on nuke. Pointed snout, small mouth, long barbels. Anterior barbel reaching middle of eye, posterior extending past eye's posterior border. Lateral line complete, slightly dipping below dorsal fin. Scales with different streaks. Last dorsal ray ossified. Dark back, light belly. Lower part of scales darker, no spots. Dorsal: 4, anal: 3 simple rays.
