Distribution: Africa: Cunene, Okavango, and Upper Zambezi River. Also known from the southern tributaries of the Congo system (Ref. 52193).
Diagnosis:   Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-6. Anterior barbel short, about quarter eye diameter; posterior barbel also short, about half eye diameter.
Biology: Inhabits shallow calm waters amongst vegetation, along the river edge (Ref. 13337). Ripe adults were caught undertaking upstream migration on a possible spawning run in mid summer after the first rise in water level (Ref. 13337)
