Distribution: Africa: Guinea to Nigeria (Ref. 2801). Also collected from the upper Koto River drainage (Ubangi tributary, middle Congo River basin) in Central African Republic (Ref. 41414).
Diagnosis:   Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Convex dorsal profile. Lines of cephalic pores very visible. Moderately developed barbels, anterior may reach anterior eye border, posterior reaching middle of eye. Horizontal lateral line. Dorsal and Anal with 3 simple rays. External border of dorsal fin concave.
Biology: Maximum TL was recorded at 11 cm. Polymorphic. Occurs mostly in forest rivers (Ref. 2801)
