Distribution: Africa: Lake Malawi in Tanzania (Ref. 78218).
Diagnosis:   Moderately slender; dorsal fin situated a long way in front of the ventral fins; adipose fin low and long, longer than in Amphilius jacksonii; caudal peduncle longer than deep (deeper that long in Amphilius uranoscopus; caudal fin deeply indented than is the case in Amphilius uranoscopus; and the caudal-fin lobes rounded posteriorly (Ref. 78218). Description: D i/6+1; A iii/7+1; P i/5; V i/11 ((Ref. 78218).
Biology: Inhabits very clear water and remains at least in part active during the day (Ref. 78218). Can be kept easily in the aquarium and if possible, the temperature should not exceed 24° C (Ref. 78218)

Comments: Found in the affluents of the Ruhuhu drainage in the southern highlands of Tanzania, in the Lake Malawi drainage. Recorded also from Lake Malawi and from the Little Ruaha in the upper Ruaha-Rufiji system, east of the watershed with the Malawi drainage (Ref. 78218).
