Remarks Inhabits rocky reefs at considerable depths (Ref. 9137). Seen in coelacanth caves at 182 and 192 m (Ref. 58472). Nocturnal species (Ref. 75154). The strong spines and spiny scales of this fish would discourage most predators (Ref. 58472).
