Distribution:  Circumglobal: In tropical to temperate waters. Eastern Central Atlantic: possibly widely distributed from the Gulf of Guinea to South Africa. Western Atlantic: At about 39° to 10°N. Southwest Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-19; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 17-19
