Max. size:  7.79 cm SL (male/unsexed); 5.16 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 9 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Bay Islands, Honduras. Record from Taiwan needs further confirmation (Ref. 43544).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 71-79; Anal soft rays: 55-61; Vertebrae: 39-40. This species is distinguished by the following characters: ; D 71-79; A 55-61; small eyes (1.5-2.3%SL); rounded snout, no cirri; cheeks with scales; with upper preopercular pore; outer pseudoclasper broad-based, simple flap-shaped, about twice as large as the inner one which is very short and its margin almost straight from short anterior pointed lobe to posterior lobe; very wide isthmus between pseudoclaspers; otolith length to height 2.2-2.3, with regular dorsal rim; otolith length to sulcus length 1.6, ostium length to cauda length about 3.5-4.0; vertebrae 10-11 + 29-30 = 39-40 (Ref. 81230).
Biology:  Uncommon species (Ref. 34024).
