Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Ryukyus, Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 83-85; Anal soft rays: 67-67; Vertebrae: 43-44. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 83-85; A 67; large eyes (3.0-3.3%SL); slender body; pointed snout, no cirri; scales on cheeks, 2 above the opercular spine; no upper preopercular pore; outer pseudoclasper broad-based, simple flap, while the inner one is very small, somewhat depressed; moderately elongate otolith, length to height 2.1-2.2, with regularly curved dorsal rim; small sulcus, otolith length to sulcus length 1.9-2.0, very small cauda, ostium length to cauda length 5.5-7.0, ostium height to cauda height 2.2-2.7; vertebrae 11 + 32-33 = 43-44 (Ref. 81230).
