Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 30 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea; Saudi Arabia, and Egypt (Ref. 57563).
Diagnosis:  Its subspecies Lophalticus kirkii magnusi is morphologically different from its nominal subspecies in having a rounded dorsal flap over the neck (vs. triangular and pointed) (Ref. 57563).
