Distribution:  Asia: India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-5; Anal soft rays: 9-13. This species is distinct from its congeners in having the following set of characters: lips with a single fold, no pinnate-like rays in caudal fin; supraoccipital spine short and not pointed; mesethmoid cornua forming V-shaped median cleft; jaws equal in length; dorsal spine smooth, vertebrae 26+21 (Ref. 78721).
