Family:  Clariidae (Airbreathing catfishes)
Max. size:  80 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater,
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Prefers rocky habitats. Feeds mainly on crabs, occasionally on fishes (Ref. 5595, 78218). Occurs down to a depth of at least 40 m, though juveniles are frequently found among rocks in very shallow water (Ref. 78218).
