Family:  Ipnopidae (Deep-sea tripod fishes), subfamily: Ipnopinae
Max. size:  16 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 700 - 1600 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: off Beira, Mozambique and south of Madagascar. Southwest Atlantic: off southern Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 9-9. Body silvery, pinkish white; gill covers and underside of head dark (Ref. 5320).
Biology:
