Family:  Arhynchobatidae (Softnose skates)
Max. size:  76.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 370 - 2000 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Sea of Okhotsk to southern Japan.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Oviparous. Distinct pairing with embrace. Young may tend to follow large objects, such as their mother (Ref. 205). Eggs are oblong capsules with stiff pointed horns at the corners deposited in sandy or muddy flats (Ref. 205). Egg capsules are 10.6-13.2 cm long and 7.6-8.6 cm wide (Ref. 41298, 41253).
