Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine
Distribution:  Northeast Pacific: subtropical-tropical regions between 28°N and 10°N, including Gulf of California (Ref. 31442).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 19-22; Vertebrae: 31-33. Branchiostegal rays: 8 (Ref. 31442).
Biology:  Epipelagic to mesopelagic near the coast (Ref. 31442). Adults form dense aggregations at night (Ref. 31442). Oviparous, with planktonic eggs and larvae (Ref. 31442).
