Family:  Hypopomidae (Bluntnose knifefishes)
Max. size:  17.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Central and South America: Magdalena, Atrato, Catatumbo and Pacific slope rivers.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Frequently found in shallow and calm streams or brooks, abundant in vegetation (Ref. 26543) between 1 and 60 m elevation. Feeds on aquatic insects, especially diptera (Ref. 36880). Hides during the day (Ref. 26543).
