Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs in both ends of the lake.
Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: elongate habitus; small adult size; low number of longitudinal line scales (35-37) (Ref. 55954). Description: relatively small and elongated; snout short and rounded (Ref. 55954). Coloration: dark band mainly on the lateral line (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Inhabits shallow water near sandy shores (Ref. 5595).
