Family:  Monacanthidae (Filefishes)
Max. size:  19.3 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 73 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Hawaiian Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Benthopelagic over coral and rock (Ref. 58302). Feeds mainly on algae and detritus, but also takes tunicates, corals, sponges and other benthic animals (Ref. 3921). Young spotted (Ref. 1623).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 03 March 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
