Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 600 - 1460 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: off Namibia to Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 55-55; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 48-48. Reddish in color, median fins darker; preserved specimens are whitish in color (Ref. 6632). Pelvic fins modified into a ventral disc.
