Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Western Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Compared with C. australis, marmoratus do not have a broad, naked area below anterior part of spinous dorsal fin; jaw moderate 15-19% SL (versus 10-15%); interorbital ridges relatively week; and marmorated body (Ref. 39597).
Biology:  Occurs over soft bottom of the continental shelf (Ref. 75154).
