Family:  Pomacanthidae (Angelfishes)
Max. size:  22 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 15 - 25 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan to Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-18; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 17-18. Description: Has a single blue sub-marginal line in the dorsal fin and two in the anal fin. The outer margin is pale blue. Bleeker's illustration shows the lines in the fins but a more brownish body with lines mostly restricted to the head, which maybe attributed to a more juvenile fish (Ref. 48636). Body depth 1.8-2.0 in SL. Scales longitudinal series 80-90 (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Least known (Ref. 48636). A rare species that inhabits deep rocky reefs (Ref. 9710). Feeds on sponges and tunicates. Rarely exported through the aquarium trade (Ref. 48391).
