Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Barbinae
Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India, Nepal and upper Myanmar. Reported from Bhutan (Ref. 40882).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 23-25; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Last simple dorsal fin ray spine not serrated; dorsal fin rays branched; transverse row of 10-12 open pores (5-6 on each side) across snout posteriorly directed toward middle of orbit (Ref. 42977).
