Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific Ocean from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico southward to Punta Mandinga, Ecuador.
Diagnosis:  Distinguished from D. insulatus and D. pectoralis by having the following characters: scales present above the lateral line; upper lip fimbriae, modally 11; preopercular canal pores, modally 6; branched labial fimbriae (Ref. 82814).
