Max. size:  13 cm SL (male/unsexed); 16.4 cm SL (female)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range - 120 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: known only from its type locality, above the southern crest of the Equator seamount.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 14-15; Vertebrae: 35-35. Inner row teeth of lower jaw considerably enlarged and equidistant from one another; dorsal-nasal gland about equal in size to the trunk photophore, not immersed in tissue underlay, aligned sideways and fully disconnected from ventral-nasal gland; suborbital and anterorbital glands and hook-shaped teeth in posterior part of upper jaw missing (Ref. 43965).
