Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 410 - 1210 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: off Natal, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 120; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 70. Head and vertical fins black; body dark brown (Ref. 6610).
Biology:  Rare species (Ref. 34024), known from only two specimens (Ref. 6610).
IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient (DD); Date assessed: 16 August 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
