Family:  Serranidae (Sea basses: groupers and fairy basslets)
Max. size:  26 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 20 - 160 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Gulf of California and southern Baja California, Mexico to Panama Bay.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sand and muddy-sand bottoms, between 25 and 160 m depth. Too small in size to be of commercial importance (Ref. 9342).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 01 May 2008 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
