Family:  Opisthoproctidae (Barreleyes or spookfishes)
Max. size:  21.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 200 - 2000 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: southern Bering Sea to Honshu, Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk and southern British Columbia, Canada.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 10-11; Vertebrae: 46-47. Eyes pouchlike; adipose fin present (Ref. 58272).
Biology:  Possibly found in depths shallower than 200 m (Ref. 43939).
