Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika; widespread.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Gregarious; found over coarse sand bottoms. Feeds on microorganisms, diatoms and algae (Ref. 6770).
