Family:  Danionidae (Danios), subfamily: Chedrinae
Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Malawi and upper Shire River (Ref. 2801, 4967).
Diagnosis:  Steely blue coloration on upper part and silvery blue on lower part of the body. Dorsal-fin origin above anal-fin origin.
Biology:  Caught using plunge nets, chirimilas or beach seines (lamparas) with light (Ref. 4967). Occurs over sandy bottoms in the morning and move a little offshore later during the day (Ref. 5595). Forms schools (Ref. 4365).
