Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 120 - 660 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Southwest Atlantic: known between 17-21°S and 28-30°W.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 20-27; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 37-45. Chin barbel with 3 branches arising together from the stem; barbel stem pigmented only up to origin of branches; distal stem pigmented only in axis and small internal spots; terminal bulb roughly spheroidal with a bilobed, reticulated patch of pigment on proximal dorsal surface; no unpigmented ovoids associated with bulb pigment; terminal filaments short and simple, a single laterally based pair on the dorsal tip of bulb and one or two medial filaments ventral of these.
