Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Indonesia (Ref. 95025), Philippines, to the Solomon Islands. Occurrence in Australia needs confirmation.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Distinguished by having eight (occasionally seven) pectoral filaments, not reaching midpoint of anal fin; depth of posterior margin of maxilla less than eye diameter; snout pointed; body in life usually blue above and silvery below (Ref. 39607); 11 anal-fin soft rays; 46-50 gill rakers; depth of posterior margin of maxilla less than eye diameter (Ref. 95025).
Biology:  Reaches at least 15 cm SL (Ref. 57343).
