Family:  Melanotaeniidae (Rainbowfishes, blue eyes)
Max. size:  12 cm SL (male/unsexed); 10 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.6 - 8.2; dH range: 9 - 19
Distribution:  Asia: Endemic to Lake Sentani in Irian Jaya, Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 18-20
Biology:  Adults inhabit a lake in a hilly area of about 75 m elevation. Aquarium keeping: in groups of 5 or more individuals; minimum aquarium size 100 cm (Ref. 51539).
