Max. size:  100 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 30 - 303 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Maldives (Ref. 11303) and Mauritius (Ref. 58078). Pacific Ocean: Taiwan to New Zealand, east to Hawaii.
Diagnosis:  Pale grey color with y-patterns along entire body (Ref. 30404).
Biology:  Benthic (Ref. 58302). Rare species (Ref. 30404). Prefers rock and sponge areas (Ref. 30404). Minimum depth reported taken from Ref. 30404.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 17 August 2011 Ref. (130435)
