Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  12 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range - 13 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria. This species has been found in relatively few localities and only in the Uganda waters of the lake (Ref. 558).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits areas with firm substrate (sand and rock) (Ref. 4983). Gut contents showed that this species preys on a variety of invertebrate animals and possibly even small fish. Predominant food organisms were insects (esp. dipterous larvae but also Ephemeroptera & Trichoptera larvae). The non-insect food were fish, oligochaete worms, prawns, plant tissue, ostracods, and fragments of lamellibranchs & gastropod shells (Ref. 558).
