Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Shimoni, Kenya to Bazaruto, Mozambique.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-13; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-11. Body brown with incomplete dark vertical bars (Ref. 2798); posterior nasal tube elongate, about twice length of anterior nasal tube; pectoral-fin rays usually 17-18; posterior opercular border with dark bar (Ref. 57078).
